The Honey House is spacious, sunny, self–contained and creatively decorated. It is divided into two – the Nectary Bed & Breakfast and the Lodge. Both have original art and creative design in a tranquil rural setting – only 10 minutes from Nelson City Centre and set amongst 50+ acres of beautiful countryside.
We are in the heart of the Top–of–the–South region – centrally located close to Nelson City, between the Marlborough Sounds & Motueka, Abel Tasman & Golden Bay – beautiful beaches, adventure tours, vineyards, restaurants, galleries, and the city at your doorstep.
The property, currently looked after by mother, daughter & husband, Christine, Jezebel & David, was once a working apiary of 500 beehives. Now the bees are gone and our focus is on restoration of the native forest. A small flock of Romney sheep roam the hills and the organic orchards and gardens grow a cornucopia of fruits, nuts and vegetables. Between us we have travelled extensively around the world and are now welcoming the world to us. Our family has a 20 year history of hosting overseas visitors as workers with an organic farming programme and we love meeting new people & sharing this idyllic lifestyle.
